WE DISCUSSED MANY OF THE ISSUES IN FERGUSON AND HOW THINGS HAVE NOT CHANGED SINCE THE TIME OF THE EVENTS IN THE BOOK TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.WE LOOKED AT THE COMMENTS OF SOME BLOGGERS ABOUT FERGUSON.
SHAUN KING MADE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS. FROM THE NPR ARTICLE WE READ IN CLASS, SAY IF YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH ONE OF THE STATEMENTS.GIVE TWO REASONS FOR YOUR ANSWER.
Whenever you see racism, follow the money trail and the
dishonesty for who is protecting their power & profits. It's my belief that
Darren Wilson & fellow Ferguson officers saw Black Citizens as walking
arrest warrants & saw Mike Brown as one on 8.9.14 Let me do the math for you. Ferguson
had 50 officers who issued 32,975 arrest warrants. That's 660 per officer per
year. In other words, if all 50 officers
issued arrest warrants, and they worked 365 days a year, they'd need at least
TWO per day.
Whenever you suspect racism is at play, ask yourself 2
questions: 1. Who is profiting off the racism? and 2. What lies keep it alive?
What LIES have been told to support the mass incarceration
of African American men & women? Who PROFITS off these lies?
